In the fall of 1985, she started The Music Staff, a landmark in the Western Branch as a community music school. She has adjudicated and held offices in Tidewater Music Teachers Forum, Virginia Music Teachers Association and National Guild of Piano Teachers. Mary Ann is proud of the accomplishments of her students who have won various competitions, pursued careers in music, and share their talent in the community. Presently she enjoys a studio of piano students age 5 to adult.
Teachers at The Music Staff believe in developing personal music skills and an appreciation for the arts. Private lessons, beginners through advanced, are offered to students age 7 to adult; 30, 45 and 60 minute lessons are available. Students are also encouraged throughout the year to participate in recitals, evaluations, competitions (when appropriate), and various community performances.
